Nestled below the majestic Ncaga Mountain, overlooking the activities of a working farm, lies the Whistling Duck Farm cottage. The Cottage is situated in the heart of Lüneburg, which was established as a German missionary post in 1854.

Today Lüneburg has an active farming community enjoying all aspects of agriculture including: Timber production, Maize, Dairy and Beef Cattle as well as modern piggeries. Lüneburg is found on the borders of Mpumalanga and Northern Natal, 50km from Piet Retief on the Mpumalanga side and 60km from Vryheid on the Natal side.

This luxury self catering cottage offers you the opportunity to break away from your daily routine and relax in a country environment - this is definitely a place to restore your senses and revive your soul. The cottage and its surroundings cater for many needs - whether you are looking for peace and tranquility or outdoor adventure - there is much on offer.

Accommodation:

Self-Catering: The luxury cottage is self catering, has 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Towels and linen are supplied and changed every 3 days. The open plan kitchen is well equipped with all modern necessities including a complete range of crockery and cutlery, pots and pans.

The lounge and dining room open onto a full length covered verandah where a magnificent view of the dam and its birdlife can be enjoyed. The cottage is serviced daily.

The B&B Unit: This unit is totally self contained with its own private entrance. The cottage has a small kitchenette, a bathroom, 2 single beds and a small sitting area as well as your own private verandah which looks onto farmland.

You are most welcome to cater for yourself while staying at the B&B, the kitchenette is equipped with a small fridge, microwave and a braai is also provided. We do however serve breakfast, lunch and dinner by prior arrangement in our breakfast room. The B&B unit has access to all 5 dams for fishing aswell as the hiking trails in the area.

Activities: For the outdoor enthusiast there are a host of activities to choose from. Some of the activities are listed below:

Local Activities: Florida & Black Bass fishing in 4 dams found on the farm, Hiking Trails, Horse Trails, Birding, Canoeing, Angling for yellow fish in the nearby Pongola.

Activities within 40km radius: 4 x 4 Route into the Scodini Gorge, Birding in Wakkerstoom well known for its vast and varied bird population in the surrounding vlei areas, Orchid Hunting in the summer months with a local guide, Natal spa - hot mineral springs, Microliting from Paulpietersburg airstrip.

Rates: The cottage is R600 per night - the cottage is self catering and sleeps 6. B&B rate of R250per person including breakfast and dinners are available on request at R60 per person including dessert. We are AA highly recommended.
