Kwela Lodge is a privately owned and operated property set in 58 ha of landscaped gardens and unspoilt African thornveld at the foot of Otto's Bluff mountain with a breathtaking view over the Albert Falls Dam and Umgeni Valley - and only 15 km from Pietermaritzburg.

In the main house are two fireplaces to warm up chilly winter nights – the cosy lounge invites our guests to relax with a cup of tea, read or try a game of cards or one of our board games. The Safari-Bar is the ideal place for a sundowner or drink after a delicious meal and the "Arts & Craft" Shop offers a variety of local craft and gifts for any occasion.

Weather permitting - breakfast and dinner will be served on the terrace overlooking the Dam and Valley.

Relax under Palm Trees and enjoy the view of the Albert Falls Dam and Umgeni Valley while reading your favourite book at the swimming pool. Or sit around the log fire sipping a sundowner or cool beer under African Skies while the steaks are sizzling on the Braai.

Explore our 58 ha property - the bird life is abundant and you might be lucky to see a Nyala, Duiker, Warthog or the odd Monkey. Or experience a "close encounter" with our farm animals - the dogs, cats, donkeys, miniature pigs or chickens!
