Situated in Fouriesburg, Eastern Free State, one of the fastest growing tourism area’s in South Africa, Mont Plaisir is a stately 200hectares mountain lodge. It is a working farm, where cattle are raised and several agricultural products are grown. Mont Plaisir is one of the few farms in the Fouriesburg area where asparagus are still grown.

For a short break or holiday, Mont Plaisir is the ideal location to relax completely in its tranquil surroundings while enjoying the stunning views, and its luxurious accommodation. It also accommodates small groups for seminars or workshops

The guest accommodations are located in a park like garden, in a natural way separated from the farming activities, but close enough for those who want to see it or even participate.

Accommodation is in luxury units, both self-catering and catered, with en-suite bathrooms. The houses are built in the traditional South African style using sandstone and thatch. The old main house and the second house feature spacious communal lounges with fireplaces for the winter or an occasional cool summer evening. In addition the old main house has a built-in barbecue on its large porch for balmy summer evenings and clear sunny winter days. The second house and the rondawel also have their own barbecue facilities. The water supply comes from its own natural springs.

There are possibilities for horse riding, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, hiking, riding 4x4 trails at Mont Plaisir or in its immediate vicinity. In the area are also three golf courses. A round of 18 holes, a caddy inclusive, will cost you about R 40. The Golden Gate National Park is just a half hour drive away.

Mont Plaisir is also the ideal starting point for a holiday. After relaxing a few days at the lodge it can be used as a base for trips to the beautiful Drakensbergen or the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho or even to the beautiful beaches and the big game parks of Kwazulu-Natal.
