The few minutes drive from Paternoster to the 4 Star graded guesthouse Farr Out is not what you would exactly call far. But when you arrive in this sandy bushveld wilderness, you do feel pleasingly remote. Crunching up the glinting shell pathway you can see across an indigenous garden and right out to sea. Earlier risers may catch some of the wildlife that comes by when it thinks no-one's looking.
Rooms are modern, with televisions, stereos, wireless internet and some of the most exciting loo seats. Choose your favorite room: White Mussel is a north facing airy double bedroom (queen-size bed) at ground level of the East Wing with spectacular sea views which can be enjoyed from a private terrace. Black Mussel is an east facing spacious double bedroom (king-size bed) at ground level of the East Wing. Fynbos will amaze your eyes from a private patio. Oyster is a north facing overwhelming double bedroom (queen-size bed) at the top floor of the East Wing. Stunning sea views are inviting for a sundowner on the private patio. Perlemoen is an east facing fresh double bedroom (2 single beds) well-known for its stunning sunrises at the top level of the East Wing. Perfect as an annexure to Oyster room for family/friends.
Make sure you get a chance to spend some time in the garden basket-chair. Specially imported from Germany, it shelters brilliantly from the wind, allowing you to sit in peace for an hour or ten and soaking up the tranquility of the surroundings or try counting the Koi in the pond as you hand feed them.
Be adventurous and join Deon on a beach buggy excursion with a little wind in your hair going out overlooking the dunes. Afterwards rewind around the fire in our unique wind sheltered Wigwam (tepee).
Rainy days are also covered, with a host of board games, including a much-loved thirty-year-old edition of German Monopoly. Winter days are fun with the roaring fire in the soapstone oven enjoyed along with some glühwine and baked cinnamon-apples to catch up on some fishermen tales.
Children of any age welcome. Big playground on premises. Safe undercover parking. Wireless Internet. Braai (BBQ) in tepee. Credit card facilities. English, Afrikaans and German spoken.
Stunning indigenous wild-flower-carpets between July and October - bird lovers can discuss 225 different species – last manned lighthouse in Tietiesbaai / Cape Columbine Nature Reserve nearby - 8 kilometer unspoiled white sandy beach - playful dolphins and Southern Right whales in season - adventurous Beach Buggy trips along the coastline – Wigwam braai
The perfect “off the beaten track” break-away (about 2 hours drive from Cape Town centre)!
